Senior Product Engineer

We are currently partnering with a leading company in the HVAC sector, part of a multinational group, to recruit a Senior Electronics Engineer. This role is key in driving advanced product development, technical decision-making, and innovation within the R&D function.
Role Purpose:
The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for leading the advanced development of heat pump and air conditioning systems. This role combines deep technical expertise in HVAC systems, electronics, and thermodynamics with strong leadership capabilities, ensuring the delivery of robust, competitive, and compliant products from concept to mass production.
This role specializes in the development, integration, and validation of control systems. In this role, you will join our engineering team and hold responsibility for the proper electronic, control, and communication performance of all products. Additionally, you will work closely with teams across Europe, requiring strong communication skills, autonomy, and the ability to thrive in multicultural environments.
Key Responsibilities
System Integration & Control Development: Integrate electronics, sensors, actuators, and controllers into manufactured units, alongside the development, programming, and fine-tuning of control systems.
Validation & Testing: Validate firmware, conduct laboratory testing, analyze system behavior, and optimize functional performance.
Industrial Communications: Implement and support industrial communication protocols, specifically Modbus and BACnet.
Troubleshooting: Resolve technical issues in prototypes and products under development.
Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, test reports, and internal procedures.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Maintain continuous coordination with local teams and European engineering teams.
Compliance & Quality: Ensure compliance with design standards, applicable regulations, and internal quality metrics.
Provide technical leadership in the development of new products and platforms within the HVAC portfolio.
Define and validate system architecture, including thermal design, electronic control systems, and control algorithms.
Oversee design, prototyping, testing, validation, and certification processes.
Ensure compliance with international regulations (CE, ErP, LVD, EMC) and performance targets related to efficiency, reliability, and quality.
Lead technical risk assessments (DFMEA) and implement mitigation strategies.
Act as a technical reference and mentor for junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
Support industrialization, quality, and after-sales teams with advanced technical expertise.
Drive innovation in system performance, including energy efficiency, thermal optimization, and acoustic performance.
Requirements
Requirements & Qualifications (What will make you successful)
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering, Automation and Control Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Proven experience in the HVAC sector or in the development of thermal/thermomechanical products.
Technical Skills: * Proficiency with Carel tools and platforms.
Valuable experience with Siemens or Schneider Electric development environments.
Solid knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet).
Experience in hardware and firmware validation, signal analysis, and electronic equipment management.
Languages: Fluent English proficiency for international collaboration.
Tools & Systems (Highly Valued):
Corporate Systems: Teamcenter (PLM), Workday, and M3 (ERP).
Collaboration & Project Management: Jira and Confluence.
Soft Skills:
Ability to work effectively in international, multidisciplinary teams.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Energy Engineering
More than 10 years of experience in HVAC product development
Strong experience in heat pumps and air conditioning systems (split, multisplit, VRF, industrial solutions)
Proven experience in product/system architecture and key technical decision-making
Technical Knowledge:
Advanced knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration cycles
Expertise in power electronics and inverter technologies
Strong background in HVAC control algorithms and system optimization
Familiarity with energy efficiency regulations (ErP, eco-design)
Experience with simulation tools, PLM systems, and laboratory testing environments
Desirable:
Experience working in international teams
Experience managing supplier relationships and key component manufacturers
